Health and Safety Officer

Health, Safety & Environment (Construction)

Job Description

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA)
  • Assist the company in obtaining and maintaining necessary safety certifications and approvals.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identifications.
  • Recommend and enforce corrective actions for non-compliance and unsafe practices.
  • Conduct mandatory safety training sessions and toolbox talks for workers and subcontractors.
  • Promote a safety-first culture among employees.
  • Investigate and report workplace incidents and accidents to DOSH and management.
  • Prepare incident analysis and recommend preventive measures.
  • Perform routine safety audits and monitor site compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans in alignment with legal and site-specific requirements.
  • Conduct periodic emergency drills.
  • Maintain and update safety records, including site audits, incidents, and training logs.
  • Submit statutory reports as required by DOSH or other authorities.

Job Requirement

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with a valid Green Book issued by DOSH Malaysia.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in a construction or similar high-risk industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction site operations and hazards.
